Then we set the ditch depth, width, and slope so it actually carries water without creating new erosion problems.

For farm ground and pastures, properly cut ditches can mean earlier planting, less stuck equipment, and better grass growth. Around homes and shops, they help protect foundations, keep yards from staying soggy, and reduce the chance of water backing up into buildings during heavy rains.
